a very Parksville Christmas

Mom was surprised and pleased to be able to get all 3 sons to Christmas out on the left coast.

… which one of the Bridges is that middle guy, again? 🙂

I got a MAGIC MUG for Christmas

The only thing better than coffee, is coffee in a MAGIC MUG.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

Thermochromic paints are (supposedly) how it’s done. I prefer to believe it’s MAGIC.

is Newt Gingrich a flip-flopping liar?

This ad which ran in early 2008 is part of the “We Can Solve It” global warming ad campaign sponsored by former Vice President Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection. Gingrich has spent a lot of time trying to explain why he participated in this ad campaign.

He’s sharing the Love Seat with frenemy Nancy Polosi:

… In an interview with Talking Points Memo …, Pelosi teased that she knows “a lot” from her days as senior Democrat on the House Ethics Committee, which investigated Gingrich for tax cheating and campaign finance violations.

“One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi said. “I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.” …

Newt and his most one-eyed followers simply dismiss the many critics. He’s only been married once, they claim. And never cheated on that wife the way Bill Clinton did.

USA Today has a summary of the charges against the Newt – Fact Check: Many attacks on Gingrich are true

Santa read that article and delivered only a single lump of coal to candidate Newt. … Very funny, Claus. You know Gingrich won’t burn the coal — he’s too worried about Global Warming.

McCharles Christmas Eve

The McCharles clan are all on Vancouver Island, our first time celebrating Christmas in Parksville, B.C.

After picking up Randy and Val at the Comox Airport, the day seems to have been one long meal.

We had a few laughs, my Dad relating stories I’d never heard before.

In his youth, Dad had a buddy in northern Ontario who worked at a brewery. Every 3 months they cleaned out all tanks and vats, starting a fresh batch. … The boys went into the brewery on Friday night … and stayed until Sunday night.

On another bender weekend, Dad came back to town from working out of town … and bought a suit. By the end of that weekend the new suit was completely worn out, and he had somehow sold his prize Buick for only $100. … The details are still fuzzy.

Mom won our favourite bored game, Mexican Train.
