I’m adding to this photo set as we go …

Google profiles copying Facebook
Google has NEVER got a handle on social networking.
Here’s their latest effort to compete with Facebook, the updated Google profile.
It’s not yet got any of the function of Facebook. But, no doubt, they’ll be rolling that out over time.
Japanese tsunami hits California
I’ve only seen a few of the terrifying videos from Japan. We’ve been in transit, driving the coast of California.
Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.
There were warnings. But we were little affected.
There was one detour (HIGHWAY CLOSED) near Half Moon Bay.
… Mom and I were turned away from walking one beach at 5pm (many hours after the tidal wave) by a sheepish Parks Ranger. They were being extra cautious.

Denny’s Restaurant shout out
Denny’s Restaurants – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner 24/7.
In the past I’d rank Denny’s at the very bottom of my favourite restaurants list.
But I have to admit, it’s been very good the past 2 or 3 visits. And very popular.
call me a Gleek
An unlikely hit about High School show choir set in Lima, Ohio.
How could you do an elevator pitch on that?
I’ve been rewatching the series starting with the Premiere. What strikes me second time ’round is how strong the music is, in general.
Click PLAY or watch one of my favourites on YouTube.
Glee has been a commercial success, with over twenty-one million digital single sales and nine million album sales. …
In 2009, the Glee cast had 25 singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100, the most by any artist since The Beatles had 31 songs in the chart in 1964. In February 2011, Glee surpassed Elvis as the artist with the most songs placed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart …
I’m surprised the novelty hasn’t worn off.
Like many others, I’d watch an hour long show only for Sue.
And some of the characters: Kurt, Santana and especially Brittany have really grown on me over time. Coach Beiste, too.
made it to California …
Since departing Parksville it’s been either cloudy or rainy.
One highlight was driving Avenue of the Giants in the rain with almost no other gawkers. (It’s packed during summer.)
I’d forgotten how windy and undeveloped is coastal California Highway 1
We finally got some sun as we approached San Fran.

the old In and Out scandal …
Canadian politics truly are boring compared with most nations of the world.
What we call a scandal involves about $1 million dollars. … Or is it only $100,000?
The “In and Out” scandal is an ongoing Canadian political scandal involving allegations of improper election spending on the part of the Conservative Party of Canada during the closely contested 2006 federal election. …
Elections Canada places strict limits on campaign budgets in order to provide an even playing field between the parties. …
Large amounts of cash were transferred from the party organization to the individual riding associations that are in charge of running one candidate’s election campaign. The money was then distributed to the volunteers as payments for various expenses. The volunteers then donated that money back to the party. …
It was bogus. It was dirty accounting.
A few honourable Conservative candidates refused: Inky Mark, Helena Guergis, David Marler and Dave Mackenzie.
Good on ’em.
I heard David Marler interviewed on CBC radio’s The House. There’s no question in my mind that In and Out was crooked.
But it’s nothing on the scale of the Sponsorship Scandal (“AdScam” or Sponsorgate), a similar debacle that took down the LIberals and brought the current government into power.
Still, Stephen Harper’s government is racking up scandal after scandal. He never apologizes. Sooner or later one of them is going to crash him.
