I’m tempted to dream up some conspiracy theory, … then send it out to my entire email list.
How many would forward it to their friends?
How many would check snopes.com first?
Snopes.com (pronounced /ˈsnoʊps/), officially the Urban Legends Reference Pages, is a web site discussing urban legends, Internet rumors, e-mail forwards, and other stories of uncertain or questionable origin. It is the best-known resource for validating and debunking such stories in American popular culture.
Snopes is run by Barbara and David Mikkelson, a California couple …

No need to check that rumour, it’s a hoax. Barbara, a Canadian, and David Mikkelson are HEROS.
I got a emailnabout the harvesting of turtle eggs is this true
I received an email with the subject of “every friday” about something that happens at the Pentagon every Friday and has for over four years.
Is this for real? I would like to know before I forward it to my friends.
Thanks,
Barbara
Rick McCharles,
I got this one also and as always checked Snopes http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/fridaymorning.asp
They said it was true.
I got an email about the world solar system going out of wack is this true !–in 2012
How about some simple directions, for how to use snopes?
Browse snopes.com
See how it works.
SNOPES is guilty of Ignoratio Elenchi. Don’t believe their FALSE until you read further down. E.G. they claim FALSE to Al Gore saying that he “invented” the internet…..read further down and you will see his actual quote “he claims he “created” the internet ergo Snopes says FALSE. Look in the dictionary and you will find that “invented” and “created” are synonymous!
Same thing with the statement that the Obamas sent their dog BO on a separate plane to Martha’s Vineyard. SNOPES claimed FALSE. Reading further down one finds that the original quote said the dog went on Airforce One so SNOPES claims FALSE because it went on a private plane not Airforce One. The point being the damned dog was sent separately on a private plane AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE! There are many other ways to check without using SNOPES.
Snopes is not perfect, for sure.
But I like that they debunk deliberate lies and misrepresentations.
Btw it’s heroes not heros.
You are a spelling heroe. 🙂
