Looking for symbolism
in my pet sea monkeys
what a joke
there isn’t any
they’re just animals
they live
and die
i tried picking one up
to look at it and crushed it
they are small
all the same
the package said
they were amazing
that i could train them
feed them
the pictures on the package
i got them in
made them look
almost human
they didn’t look
like the sea monkeys
at all
they drew them like that
just so people

Curse you, Rick and Ron. Now, every Kijiji ad I read sounds like a poem, festering in hidden layers of meaning.
“Older desk for sale. Orangish brown in color, nothing drastic though, has drawer, and cupboard door. Good sized desk, not tiny, not gigantic, asking $50 or best offer. Has a few scratches on it, but it’s a really nice and sturdy desk. I’m getting a new desk this week.”
