new TV show – FlashForward

It’s based on a novel by Canadian author Robert J. Sawyer published in 1999.

The new TV series is getting good buzz and looks to be a keeper.

Series Premiere: Thursday, September 24th, 2009. 8/7c on ABC.

Click PLAY or watch a promo on YouTube.

The full premiere episode can be watched online on ABC … IF you live in the USA. I can’t find it available online from Canada. (Me thinks I need to go to Hawaii to watch it.)

I’m a big fan of Robert J. Sawyer. The only way he’ll ever make much money, however, is if his books are used for TV and movies.

Sawyer is a good friend of my brother Randy who tells me that ABC expects a 5yr run of the TV show. The plan is that it will replace LOST in their lineup.

CTV.ca will stream it online free for Canadians.

I was going to send you an email about the show. My brother had watched it in Washington DC and told me about it. Not sure if I will ever watch the TV show. Having read the book and knowing the answer kinda ruins it…

And yes, I have read all of Sawyers books, ever since you pointed me in his direction. Lots of really neat technological ideas and plots. I find his character development and writing style simple though. I still read all of them in spite of this.

  2. Sawyer, like Asimov, writes so that a 14yr-old will not feel intimidated.

I assume that increases the potential market.

The science is more accurate than most fiction.

The TV show has already veered quite a bit from the book. No doubt they will be making it up as they go along, as they did with LOST.
