review – Grand Prarie inn hotel

Overall, The Grande Prairie Inn …

Was a disappointment

+ weak, actually unusable, FREE wireless internet
+ only one of two elevators worked
+ hotel very smoky

The parking was terrible because the concrete parkade was a disaster and a hazard.

Unaware of this fact, I got the rent-a-van stuck in a foot of water. Barefoot I had to move “icebergs” out from under the wheels before I could reverse.

The bottom was flooded. The upper levels seem to have been taken over by skateboarders. It is entirely covered with graffiti.

When I asked at the front desk, I was told it was unsafe to park in the parkade after 10PM.

The room (543) was good. But I will never return. Management tells me the hotel has been much improved. I’ll check that next visit to town.

Is that where we stayed for Westerns in 1994? I do recall it sucking quite intensely. It was a prep for the 1995 CWG – yikes yikes yikes!

  2. Hello Mr. Rick Charles,

Thank you for your feedback on our hotel (the Grande Prairie Inn and Hotel). I just wanted to apologize on behalf of the staff and management of the Grande Prairie Inn on your stay in our hotel and would like to invite you to stay again with our recent updates. We have recently made changes to our hotel that may improve your stay next time you are in the area (should you decide to stay in our hotel again). Since you stay in 2007 we have changed management and have updated the rooms, security, TVs and much more.

    WE have updated the following:

Internet – Now extreme speed internet (T1 line and faster than any other free wireless in GP)

Security – We installed cameras on the parkade and it is now quite safe.

Lobby – We renovated the entire lobby to make it more comfortable for our guests.

We have limited smoking to 1 floor on the south tower to please our guests.

Our flooding issue was a one time occurring and it will not happen again barring any major catastrophic event.

We have removed all graffiti from all parts of the hotel as we repainted the entire hotel.

If you have any question or would like to give more feedback on how we can make your stay more comfortable
    please email us at info@gpinn.com

and sorry for your unpleasant stay.

    Regards,

    Dustin Biagioni
