Pink Salmon Festival, Vancouver

I really enjoyed a complimentary outdoor Salmon dinner yesterday.

… The event is organized by Robert Clark, sustainable fish advocate and chef of divine cuisine, who teamed up with Pacific Salmon Foundation to celebrate pink salmon as one of British Columbia’s most sustainable seafoods. A total of 1.5 tonnes of free, barbecued-to-perfection pinks were prepared and served by chefs to hundreds of visitors …

Rockin’ was one of the chef / evangelists.

Denzel had a booth selling their barbecue sauces. He’s attending Barbecue on the Bow next weekend.

The weather was perfect.

All-day, hands-on workshop will indoctrinate students in the ways of championship barbecue …

In response to overwhelming popular demand, barbecue evangelist Rockin’ Ronnie Shewchuk is teaming up with Weber Grills and Calgary’s The Cookbook Co. Cooks to stage Barbecue Academy, a deluxe all-day, hands-on workshop in Southern-style championship barbecue. The smokin’ session will be held on Sunday, June 12 at Glamorgan Community Centre. …

“Barbecue Academy is a great way to learn and have fun at the same time,” says Ronnie. “Students will not only get a chance to prep and cook championship-quality chicken and ribs, they’ll present their finished products to a panel of judges for a chance to win cheap plastic trophies, just like in a real barbecue contest!” …

Everything students need will be provided, including knives, tongs, cutting boards, oven mitts and aprons. The workshop will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12 at Glamorgan Community Centre. Tuition is $295 per person.

Looking for symbolism
in my pet sea monkeys
what a joke
there isn’t any
they’re just animals
they live
and die
i tried picking one up
to look at it and crushed it
they are small
all the same
the package said
they were amazing
that i could train them
feed them
the pictures on the package
i got them in
made them look
almost human
they didn’t look
like the sea monkeys
at all
they drew them like that
just so people
would buy them

They are sold under the title “The Amazing Live Sea-Monkeys Ocean-Zoo”. …

Rockin’s Barbecue Museum

Rockin’ Ronnie had a looonnnnngggggg day.

On the up side, the police didn’t actually arrest him after midnight on a lonely country road.

Here he is at Amo’s house, finally retrieving his Barbecues and accessories so she can sell the place.

… he’s about 3hrs late, at this point in the evening.

Here he is stuck in the snow and mud, transferring barbecues to Victor’s farm pick-up. The IDEA is to store the hoard in Victor’s farm Quonset hut, dubbed ‘Rockin’s Barbecue Museum’ by Rocco.

… he’s maybe 4hrs behind schedule at this point.

Here he is end of day, finally finding a service station with Diesel open at 1:30am.

No doubt this escapade will be bantered in the soon-to-be-launched Rocco and Rockin’ Comedy Hour audiocast.

I can hardly wait.
