The boys from Calgary, are on a roll.

They won the Commonwealth Games last month. And now stepped up to defeat the States, China and Korea at Pacific Alliance in Hawaii. That’s a first.

CONGRATULATIONS!

In fact, they were only 0.2 away from Olympic Champions Japan. (We need to improve our Rings.)

History in the making! Silver medal for the Men’s Team at the Pacific Alliance Championships

Olympic Floor champion Kyle Shewfelt reminded the world that he is still the man to beat. He brought home gold on Floor and Vault. In fact, Canada and China split the available individual gold medals.

Gymnastics Rec Retreat

The second annual Alberta Gymnastics Rec Retreat was a blast. People who love recreational gymnastics are some of the most fun, most energetic, I know.

The whole weekend was super. But the most memorable part was not my presentation on Coach Team Building. It was the high ropes course.

At your annual retreat you could do something fattening — like a barbecue workshop.

Or you could ask people to climb a wobbly telephone pole and jump for a slippery trapeze. That’s what Alberta Gymnastics did at YMCA Camp Chief Hector on April Fool’s Day, 2006.

MySpace is the largest site (has more pages) on the internet after Yahoo. The advertising potential of sites like MySpace have entrepreneurs drooling.

I hear the term Social Networking a lot of late. But what does it mean?

It refers to websites focused on getting people together who have common interests.

Connecting people with a common passion

Sounds good. I want to put together a social network of gymnastics coaches on a new site GymnasticsCoaching.com

I’m brainstorming the best way to put GC.com together if you have any suggestions.

Blog format? Wiki format?

Interactivity is key.

Having judged the 1994 Commonwealth Games, I know just how much fun they will be.

Good luck to Olympic Champion Kyle Shewfelt and the entire Canadian delegation. The Aussies will be tough at home. Those people love sport!

Kyle Shewfelt to defend at Commonwealth Games

kyle Nothing is more tempting than “retiring” after winning the Olympic Games. Retiring undefeated.

But 18-months after his victory in Athens, Kyle is preparing to defend his Commonwealth Games titles on Floor and Vault. He won 4-years-ago and will be the favourite again this time.

For Canadians the Commonwealth Games are the FUN Olympics.

Only the French could have come up with a sport this insane. You may have seen videos clips of youth in street clothes running, overcoming natural obstacles on the route with a variety of gymnastic and acrobatic moves including jumps & wall runs. It is an urban thing.
