CONGRATS Scott Niedermayer MVP

My favourite of professional sport entertainments is ice hockey.

And just as my hockey pool predicted, Ottawa lost in the final to the Calgary Flames “Mighty” Ducks of Anaheim.

niedermayer_scott_cuppeakhp1.jpgMVP was Scott Niedermayer, putting him, perhaps, at the pinnacle of the NHL Hall of Fame.

Win baby win, that’s all Niedermayer has ever known, Aside from his three previous Cup rings in New Jersey, the 33-year-old native of Cranbrook, B.C., had done it all: world junior gold, Memorial Cup title, men’s world championship gold, Olympic gold and World Cup of Hockey title — the only player in hockey history to have won all six titles.

hs1639031_1.jpgRecall the Great One went to Los Angeles to bring ice hockey to the Yanks. But they could not win it all with Gretzky.

This is the first time a team from the West Coast has won the Stanley Cup. And they were captained by Scott Niedermayer.

(How many at Disneyland tomorrow morning would even recognize his name, I wonder.)

He went to the team (for a lower salary) to play with his brother. That’s cool too.

LeBron is the King

Comparisons with Michael Jordan are obvious.

But James is only 22-years-old.

He may be the greatest basketball player of all time.

I really thought about looking up incredible in the thesaurus, and emptying the contents on this page. Among the words that could describe what I just witnessed LeBron James do to the Detroit Pistons: absurd, implausible, improbable, inconceivable, ridiculous, and unimaginable.

For those of you that missed one of the single greatest performances in NBA playoff history, LeBron dropped 48 points on the Pistons, and the Cavs prevailed in a double-overtime thriller, 109-107. LeBron had all of Cleveland’s 18 points in the two overtimes, many on dunks. Some on insane jumpers. He even made a clutch steal in double-overtime.

I still don’t see Scottie Pippin beside him. Cleveland can’t win it all … yet.

Chris Bosh – blogger, podcaster, geek

Since the NHL is dead to me … (I believe the playoffs have been cancelled) … I can turn my attention to NBA.

I like everything about this guy, the star of the NBA Raptors out of Toronto.

He’s the featured blogger on NBA.com right now:

I know that I seem like a quiet guy to a lot of people, but I’m actually not. I like to talk and I’ve been told I’m funny. That actually surprises people because I come off as a shy person most of the time.

I love basketball, but when I’m not playing I like to chill at home a lot too. I have every gaming system out right now, but my favorite is the XBOX 360. If I’m not doing that I’m on my computer. I’m kind of a computer geek. I’m always surfing the internet, reading, or downloading stuff. I’m also working on my website, http://www.chris-bosh.com, all the time. Me and my friend are revamping the whole thing.

I’m going to have a lot of cool stuff to check out. It’s a chance for people to see what I’m like of the court. I have a Podcast called Max ‘n’ out too! Me and a radio personality named Devo Brown are on it just talking about current events, entertainment, movies, etc.

video – making baseball less boring

A 3-time MVP of the Saskatchewan Moose Lodge Hockey League, Clark wanted to try something new for the off-season.

He took the Canadian hockey mentality to American baseball.

Thanks George.

NHL – Kipper evens series at 2 – 2

Star #1 = Miikka Kiprusoff
Star #2 = Miikka Kiprusoff
Star #3 = Daymond Langkow

is Miikka Kiprusoff any good? Yikes. The Red Wings must be wondering what they have to do to beat this guy in the Flames net. “He’s our brick wall back there,” said Flames d-man Andrei Zyuzin.

cheering for the Calgary Flames

I wouldn’t trade Iggy for any other hockey player in the NHL.

(OK. Maybe Sydney Crosby.)

Not many are giving my team much chance in the first round of the playoffs: Red Wings’ Grit Should Snuff Out Flames.

But I’m cheering. Go Flames!

Raptors clinch first division title

I’ll be cheering.

When NBA and NHL finals are run concurrently, even I can watch commercial TV.

The Toronto Raptors have clinched their first division title after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 94-85 at the Wachovia Centre on Friday, coupled with a New Jersey Nets loss the same night.

The Atlantic Division crown is a first for Toronto, …

The Raptors have enjoyed a league-best 16-win improvement under new general manager Bryan Colangelo after going 27-55 last year.

Good luck to coach Sam Mitchell, often listed the worst coach in the league. He may get some respect now.
