how I back up my computer
Happy, happy. I’ve got this system running now.

I have only one computer, a laptop, backing up automatically to the cloud using Carbonite. My cost is less than $3.50 / month. Very reliable, though not 100% foolproof.
I am backing-up whenever I connect to the internet. And can restore a file or an entire laptop from anywhere in the world.
My old back-up system I’ve still got running, too: a 1TB hard drive using Time Machine software. I must physically attach the drive with a cable to do this second back-up.
If you don’t back-up, please don’t complain when you lose all your music and photos in a hard drive crash or by theft. You deserve it for not signing up for Carbonite or Mozy.

Carbonite you say?
I do the external hard drive thing with Time Machine, but will look into the web based back up too!

A couple of friends of mine are signing on too.
Brian pointed out that Carbonite is better. And actually cheaper considering I buy a new external drive every 2yrs.

Hi Rick
I’ll have to take a look at this. I use Dropbox but it has a different purpose. Great for sharing, syncing data between computers, etc.. My backup process is 321, 3 copies, 2 different formats, 1 copy off site. Carbonite would be my offsite which is currently missing. Thanks for the tip Rick . Up in Fort McMoney Alberta visiting the kids. Watching Olympics in HD on a 48 in TV, moguls were great.
Cheers
