Sun newspaper beats Apple Tablet

The newspaper industry is falling over themselves in the fight to come up with an ever more impressive newspaper tablet. …

They all fear Steve Jobs. Can Apple redefine an industry as they did with the iPod. And then the iPhone?

Apple’s “tablet” computer is expected to be announced late January.

Analysts have said the tablet will include a subscription to a nationwide Wi-Fi wireless service and enable users to access the Internet, watch movies and television shows, as well as play games. They also say the tablet will let users read newspapers, magazines and textbooks in groundbreaking new ways.

The Journal reported that Apple believes it will “redefine” how people interact with various types of content.

The UK’s Sun newspaper is not worried. They reckon they’ve got Apple beat already.

2009 a good year for Microsoft

I still avoid all things Microsoft, but I’m softening.

They were far from boring over the past 12 months.

In fact, Microsoft was the most-mentioned brand online in 2009, Google ranks second.

Mashable posted an excellent year in review for MS, if you are interested.

In the meantime, Apple stock is at all-time high.

best Apple Christmas gifts

If you are struggling to decide on a present for that special one (not me), here are a few recommendations from the Evil Empire.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

The higher priced iTouch does not yet have video. The Nano is the best iPod right now for most people.

Best Apple laptop I feel is the 13in MacBook Pro.

The best desktop is the iMac. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait to get one as it’s been delayed with monitor problems.

Apple has won the J.D. Powers customer satisfaction award for the past 9yrs.

iPhone 3-year contract in Canada only

Does any other nation in the world have a mandatory three-year contract?

We now have 3 TelCos offering the iPhone. Not one of them decided to compete by offering a 2yr contract, standard in the U.S.A.

No iPhone for me. … Or maybe I do need to unlock an iPhone 3.

Windows 7 is COOL

OK, Apple is the Evil Empire. … I can live with that.

But Microsoft cool? … I never thought I’d live to see the day.

Windows 7 Outlasts Snow Leopard in Reader Vote

Windows-7-v-Snow-Leopard

Microsoft always loses these kinds of polls on the internet as the Apple fan boys are disproportionately vocal online.

… I’m going to have to try Windows 7.

Apple the new Evil Empire

Steve-JobsLeo Laporte:

At least the trains run on time.

Leo Laporte was elected President of the Internet.

Certainly our President should either be Leo or Tom Merritt. The are the two BIG PICTURE internet experts I admire most.

Both Leo and Tom … and everyone else I follow on the WWW agree that Apple IS the new Evil Empire.

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”

Apple is riding high right now. But when the Empire falls, as it inevitably does, management will look back to this era with some regret. Now is the time to be making friends and building partnerships, not crushing competition.

I’m still riding the Apple train. None of the others run on time.

… No one is afraid of Microsoft any longer. MS was formerly the Evil Empire for their frequent crushing or buying competitors to maintain as big a monopoly as possible. And for lying bald faced to one and all.

Apple 3rd generation iPod Shuffle

Love it. Love it. Love it.

But only because of the proprietary Apple headphones system added with the 3rd generation.

Click PLAY or watch a review on YouTube.

My only complaint is the 10hr battery life. That’s much shorter than my iTouch used only for audio.

The feature Apple doesn’t explain on their website is this:

• Double-click and hold the center button to fast-forward
• Triple-click and hold the center button to rewind

Macintouch

Essential for audio books and podcasts.

Now, Steve, when can you sell me an iPod with decent wireless headphones?
