hockey – Flames ready for playoffs

Last time the Calgary Flames made a run for Lord Stanley’s Cup they brought in tough guy Chris Simon to bolster the team.

It worked before — they fought through game 7 of the NHL finals, but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the closing minutes.

This year (I hear) they are bringing in Rick “Bubbles” Bieche. Remember — you read it on this blog first!

video – high ropes course

At your annual retreat you could do something fattening — like a barbecue workshop.

Or you could ask people to climb a wobbly telephone pole and jump for a slippery trapeze. That’s what Alberta Gymnastics did at YMCA Camp Chief Hector on April Fool’s Day, 2006.

You should be able to watch a short video clip below.

video – what to do after a break-up

Rockin’ informed me that this video went nuts on YouTube last week.

A young woman assuages the pain of a break-up by playing with her computer. And telling hundreds of thousands of people about it on the internet.

Seems anyone can be Amanda Congden with YouTube.

She used only a Logitech’s Quickcam Orbit MP, which retails for about US$110. Suddenly, Logitech Webcams were among Amazon’s best-selling electronics items last Friday.

I thought the Taliban were bad …

Yesterday I heard about an 8-year-old boy who was yanked from school for sending a love note and (possibly) touching the “bottom” of an 8-year-old girl. That’s “sexual harassment”, Mister!

Today a 14-year-old girl pulled out of class because her highlights were “distracting to the educational process”.

As you can see, she is hideous. Her parents should be jailed, as well.

video – Chris loves tobogganing

See if this very short, funny video clip will play in your browser. (It may take some time to LOAD depending on the speed of your computer.)

Click to watch Chris having fun New Year’s 2005.

It did not play in a new install of beta 2 Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP.

If it will not work on your computer, you could try downloading the most up-to-date free Quicktime player.

baseball – Japan wins the “World Series”

logoI believe that’s what they called the recent World Baseball Classic.

Though the USA hosted, had the easier pool, and were allowed an extra man on the team (cheating umpire Bob Davidson) they still managed to make an early exit from the playoffs. Mexico slammed the door.

I believe the US Superstars even lost a pre-tournament pick-up game with Vatican City.

Diet Coke – nectar of the Gods

<img soft drinkCurrently the fourth most-popular carbonated soft drink in the world — Diet Coke is #1 with me.

Coke tinkers with the basic formula trying to strike the right balance of saccharin, aspartame, cyclamates, sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

None of the special flavoured variations have won me over yet, but keep trying!
