Of all fantastic National Geographic photos, the most memorable to me is that of Sharbat Gula, the green-eyed Afghan refugee girl.
The same photographer returned 18-years-later to find Sharbat, now a wife & mother.

Very likely the best hike in the world — 11 days, 2 horses, 1 Peruvian guide, 2 Canucks. We thrived but 4 Israelis were shot, one dying of blood loss before rescue.
