Norway builds me a panic room
The final design for a “doomsday” vault that will house seeds from all known varieties of food crops has been unveiled by the Norwegian government.
The Svalbard International Seed Vault will be built into a mountainside on a remote island near the North Pole.
The vault aims to safeguard the world’s agriculture from future catastrophes, such as nuclear war, asteroid strikes and climate change.

This is advertising I want to watch.
Ireland/Davenport put together this TV commercial for BMW.
Shot in the Netherlands utilising the moving sculptures of world-renowned artist Theo Jansen, the commercial, entitled “Kinetic Sculptures” forms part of a broader campaign which serves to highlight BMW’s market leadership in the fields of technology and innovation.

which one is the robot?
Zou Renti of the Xi’an Supermen Sculpture Institution built a CLONE of himself (presumably to help with household chores). The robot “moves his face” and talks. The main thing they’re showing off here, though, is the lifelike appearance of the robot’s silica gel skin and features. Renti and his clone are currently on display at the 2006 China Robot Expo in Beijing.

Kenji Urada, a 37-year-old Japanese factory worker, climbed over a safety fence at a Kawasaki plant to carry out some maintenance work on a robot. In his haste, he failed to switch the robot off properly. Unable to sense him, the robot’s powerful hydraulic arm kept on working and accidentally pushed the engineer into a grinding machine. His death made Urada the first recorded victim to die at the hands of a robot.
