And Rio was a classic. 🙂

We finished the 1st annual Canmore Gymnastics Camp today at 1pm. With the traditional pie in the face for coaches. 🙂

A few days ago we talked about heading back up to the Nordic Centre this afternoon to ride trails including Soft Yogurt again.

Instead I relaxed only touring the excellent trails in and around Canmore.

Tonight I’ll open a bottle of Old Farm. Celebrate with Ashley Sportun and the rest of the coaches.
Lisa took a group out to the lake to relax after HPTC 2016.

This is the gorgeous Coeur d’Alene resort. 🙂
The morning after.

I did not attend the banquet. Instead we had nice Greek food at Yiannis Taverna on Whyte Avenue, Edmonton.
I’ve attended 25-30 Canadian Championships. A beginner compared with these two.

For Dave this was Nationals #46 in series. Hardy missed a few over those years.
Capital City Gymnastics and the city of Edmonton did a super job hosting in 2016.

All day, every day in Edmonton. 🙂
I’m flying back to Rio today.
Here’s the best summary of the many problems remaining with only 3 months left.
Very expensive for me at over US$60 / night, I enjoyed staying at Promenade Verano Stay.

The Olympic Gymnastics venue is 1.6km distant. The only problem was crossing this busy highway. A pedestrian walkway should be completed in time for the Olympics.

I ate almost exclusively at one restaurant about half way between my apartment and the Gym.
Regards from sunny Rio de Janeiro. My first visit to Brazil.

Barra da Tijuca will host most of the venues of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016. … including all the Gymnastics disciplines at Cidade Olimpica.

It’s not at all finished. And, just a few months before the Games, I wandered the place alone, very few workmen to be seen.

I’m not at all confident this place will be ready. They should be working 24/7 on it right now.

Copacabana and Ipanema?
Christ the Redeemer?
Carnival?
Nope. I’m at the Olympic Gymnastics venue as media covering Artistic, Trampoline and Rhythmic.

… That’d be a mistake. 😦
I’ll be departing Santiago February 12th. Duty calls. Gymnastics Canada has scheduled the first pilot of the NEW Level 3 Coaching Certification course for Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Feb 19-21st.
