The inaugural commercial in Travel Alberta’s Remember to Breathe campaign has garnered 1.8 million YouTube views in two years and has won more than 25 marketing awards, but the Crown corporation isn’t resting on those laurels.

It’s launching Remember to Breathe 3.0, with a heavy emphasis on promoting social media for travellers to share their Alberta experiences. …

I’m thinking WATERTON NATIONAL PARK summer 2013. 🙂

tough day on the PCT

20 miles down hill with a day pack?

How hard could it be?

Rick PCT

BLOODY hard. It was closer to 23 miles from Sunrise highway near Mt Laguna store back to Lake Morena.

RECOVERY DRINK
needed = chocolate milk.

The best news?

hiker PCT

When you FINALLY arrive back into camp, drunken hikers burst into applause. And serve you chile.

She’s dressed properly for the climate close to the Mexican border in April, by the way. I’m wearing all the wrong clothes. 🙂

An anti-thru hiker.

Here’s the start of the 2,663 mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada.

I’m en route to ADZPCTKO.

Though “qualified” as anyone of the 20 finalists, I wasn’t chosen.

My plans for 9 weeks in New Zealand, dashed.

pursued by wolves on the North Coast Trail

Another fantastic adventure on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Magical.

Weird and wonderful.

Here’s my 7-day trip report… and “recommendations“:

Don’t hike the North Coast Trail

The provocative title is intended to dissuade those who might not survive.

Oh, the “pursued by wolves” story, … that’s here.

survived the North Coast Trail

The North Coast Trail – Cape Scott is brutally difficult, especially the first two days. Decidedly tougher than the West Coast Trail.

Charmed as I am, we had no rain for 7 days!
🙂

That helped. A lot.

Trip report and photos to come.
