Want to become a podcaster?

Rockin’ Ronnie dreams of becoming a podcaster. Perhaps even a video podcaster. Always ahead of the trends, Ron posted a video clip last spring — called BSTV (Barbecue Secrets TV)

photo of AmandaAs another example, Ron bragged on AMANDA CONGDON, the anchor of a mock TV news report shot on a camcorder, edited on a laptop and posted on a blog called ROCKETBOOM, which now reaches more than 100,000 fans a day. Yowser!

I subscribed to her video podcast (vlog — video weblog) from the iTunes store immediately. Quite good, I thought.

One day everyone will have a blog. Everyone will be able to publish photos, music, video as easily as we can download them now.

Personalized content will be king.

Firefox: The Best Worst Browser Ever!

Great blog (below) outlining why the new Firefox 1.5 is the best browser for Windows — but one of the worst on the Mac platform.

I will stick with Safari, using another browser only when I have a problem with a web page.

new gymnastics website

logo Ruschkin.comFriends publish fantastic gymnastics lesson plans for schools. But distribution, especially in the USA, has been limited.

I posted a website and will generate new business for them on-line.

Google Adsense ads

I work for Google as do millions of others who include ads like these on websites:

Google makes millions on these ads (except the public service announcements) and — if we are lucky — will take over the world with the profits.

Micropayments go to the website owner even if you click to view one of these ads. No need to purchase anything. I make about $2 a day total with the ads on my thousands of web pages.

books on .mp3

Finally!

Libraries where I live offer books on .mp3 on a CD disk.

I love listening to audio books when I travel. I am loading up now for my next trip (Mexico & Central America). Three books ready for upload to my mp3 player:

  • The Worst Journey in the World, by Apsley Cherry-Garrard
  • Running with the Bulls, My years with the Hemingways, by Valerie Hemingway
  • Northern Lights, by Nora Roberts
  • Ripping books from CD, in comparison, was slow & painful. Death to the audio CD.

Use the IMPORT function on your iTunes (or other inferior) music software to get the track order sorted correctly.

I am very happy with my Rio Cali waterproof mp3 player — but the way to go today is with the iPod Nano, the first good iPod.

    Apple Powerbook

The worst fanatics are religious fanatics. And the worst religion these days is the Cult of Steve Jobs. Yup, I am an Apple Computer zealot.

Currently I run a 12 inch Powerbook — plenty of punch but still small enough to haul around on my travels. I recommend it.

TV You’ll Want To Pay For

Rick’s opinion: TV is ripe for a fall. We pay $50 a month or more for a service which with we are generally dissatisfied.

Apple’s Steve Jobs personally reinvented the music industry with iTunes. The winners are recording artists & the fans. The losers are the middlemen.

I don’t think Apple will reinvent the television industry. But they will be remembered as the company who first alerted the general public.
