I was relegated (by illness) to photographer / support team for the Funtastics Adventure Racing Team in Half Moon Bay.

The FARTs completed their longest race to date — Ocean Blue — in 8hrs, 40min. The rest of us FARTs were “proud and inspired”.

Many more experienced teams did not finish the harsh ocean kayaking, mountain biking and trail running course.

The night after the race we drove to Napa Valley, hosted for a gourmet dinner by friends of Dave and Lisa.

We finished in gorgeous Lake Taho, there to cycle with the Big Blue race organizer.

Last morning: run on the Rubicon Trail.

Parksville, B.C. photos

I enjoyed a week long visit with my parents at their home on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

My brother Rob was there too. And on his last night cooked up a big summer barbecue feast of steak, halibut, salmon and more.

Sunrise over the Mekong:

I was up very early every day due to Jetlag. Went to bed at 8PM most nights after a dusk walk along the river.

The main impression visitors get of Phnom Penh is the zany, dangerous traffic.

Only one day did we get out of town. The countryside is peaceful and gorgeous.

hiking Stone Mountain, Georgia

I heard the best hike close to Atlanta was Stone Mountain.

Some say this is the largest exposed granite ‘stone’ in the world.

Did a trail run UP and AROUND the monolith when I was in transit a few weeks ago.

Waldorf Mayfest

Waldorf is some sort of Hippy school, still refusing to acknowledge the existence of electronics.

On the other hand, these educators have embraced the modern values of “the thrill of victory… and the agony of defeat… the human drama of athletic competition …”.

(Duffy Waldorf was a professional athlete, after all.)

Waldorf won the soccer championships this year.

He was eventually hanged (Fagin, not Henry) though in some stage versions Fagin escapes with the Artful Dodger.

Henry added his own personality to the Fagin role — one in the past performed by Alec Guinness and Ben Kingsley.

On May 30th 2008, it was announced by Andrew Lloyd Weber and John Barrowman on Friday Night with Jonathon Ross that in the upcoming theatre production of ‘Oliver’, Rowan Atkinson will play the character of Fagin.
