The National Rifle Association and its allies have their post-shooting routine down cold.
They wait a day or two and then respond with a blistering array of attacks against gun-safety advocates calling for reform. No matter what the circumstances — a husband and wife at a Christmas party, a deranged teenager at a movie theater, or a sniper targeting police officers at a peaceful demonstration — they make the same points, which, unsurprisingly, often appear detached from the realities on the ground.
After the attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla., they marshaled five common pro-gun arguments, all of which crumble under scrutiny …
LA Times – Op-Ed 5 arguments against gun control — and why they are all wrong
I know the USA is not going to reduce unnecessary deaths by firearms in my lifetime. But I love to point out just how wrongheaded the Gundamentalist arguments are. 😦

If you don’t like Drumpf (… or don’t like Hillary) move to Canada. 🙂

Trudeau is the opposite of Donald Trump.
I happened upon one of these signs in a Vancouver swimming pool lobby.
It looked exactly like a Starbucks one person washroom.
No need for the text. Better would be this sign.

Anyone should be able to go to the toilet any time. This kind of washroom is the solution.
The transgender toilet issue is STUPID. People passionate about this debate should get a life. Don’t you have higher priorities?

The best video I’ve seen so far. White male suicide is SUPER high in the States. 😦

Let’s say you have to flee your country.
Where would you go?
You’d cross the border hoping to return to your home, family and friends as soon as possible.
To a clean, safe refugee camp.
Former soldier and UN observer Neale Sutton and businessman Andrew Hamilton’s self-designed “Humanihut” was last week plucked from relative obscurity to be on the Disrupt 100 list, an index of the most promising start-ups around the world. …
After securing a $50,000 grant from the South Australian government, the pair then engaged Adelaide company Applidyne to create “proof of concept” drawings based on their specifications.
The final product is a robust family-sized hut that can be set up in five minutes, with a village of 2400 huts designed to be set up in three days, inclusive of power, water and sewage. Their calculations show that one shipping container can hold 16 Humanihuts.
“When you unpack the 16 huts, the shipping container is then reconfigured to be the shower, washing and cleaning facilities for those people living in those 16 huts. We bring our own water treatment plant that can reuse 85 per cent of the “black water” for showers and toilets,” said Sutton. …

WHEN (xxxx) killed 49 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando on June 12th, did he commit the bloodiest mass shooting in modern American history, the worst ever attack on gay Americans or the deadliest act of Islamist terrorism since 9/11?
… the answer seems obvious: the attack was all three of these things.
It was also an early test of how a President Trump might handle a crisis if elected in November. One of the finest moments of George W. Bush’s presidency was when he went to an Islamic centre six days after 9/11 and issued a call for tolerance and unity. Mr Trump’s first thought was to exploit the shooting to score a point:

Psychopaths lack empathy. The Donald is a clinical psychopath.
No matter what happens, he only thinks of himself. 😦
… the shooting shows that America has a unique vulnerability to lone-wolf attacks because of its gun laws. In France two people were killed the day after the Florida attacks by a man who claimed inspiration from IS. He wielded a knife. Armed with an assault-rifle and a semi-automatic pistol he could have killed many more. In America (xxxx) was able to walk into a local gun store and buy everything he needed to kill or wound 102 people, without breaking any law.
