Warren recommended this British reality TV comedy — An Idiot Abroad …

It’s another in the series where Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant make fun of their friend Karl Pilkington. In general, I don’t like their mean humour.

But in this program, Karl is the star. One of those genuinely hilarious characters that don’t even know they are funny.

…An Idiot Abroad charts Pilkington’s reactions when visiting the New Seven Wonders of the World, as well as the situations he’s placed in and cultural differences and idiosyncrasies in the countries he visits. …

First stop for Karl was chaotic China. His befuddlement was somewhat familiar to me, too, having come directly from polite, strict and orderly Japan.

Ron embarrasses Kate AGAIN

Seems Rockin’ made some comic business cards for Kate. Using old photos to humourous effect.

The Lady and the Monk

For a National Cultural Holiday in Japan — my host Shiro Tanaka wrote and acted in a comic skit performed at a Buddhist English language festival.

The short play was intended to make a Buddhist parable more memorable by being FUNNY. It worked. Especially when Shiro mixed up the order of his lines.

S.W. Calgary Independence Militia

At age-18, I was embedded as a Milk Man – working the Palm Daries N.E. International Avenue route.

Those were different times.

We were young and idealistic. (i.e. easily brainwashed.)

Don’t try to paint the S.W.C.I.M. as racist. We had plenty of Jewish comrades and even one Pakistani family in our quadrant, just as eager to protect property values.

It was economics. That’s all.

We weren’t anti-immigration, but rather wanted it regulated. Our traditional sources of low cost, unskilled labour were slaving well, thank-you very much: Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Edmonton.

Today almost anybody can live in S.W. Calgary.

And milkmen are obsolete. 🙂
