cycling Whidbey Island

Whidbey Island (historical spelling Whidby) is the larger of the two main islands (the other island is Camano Island, east of Whidbey) that comprise Island County, Washington, in the United States. Whidbey is about 30 miles (48 km) north of Seattle …

I spent a sunny day cycling.

Rosanne Cash – Land of Dreams

Thanks for the link, Rockin’.

Watch the music video for “Land of Dreams,” the original song written by Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal and performed by Rosanne Cash and guest artists Los Lobos, Bebel Gilberto and TREME. Encouraging travelers to come and find your “Land of Dreams,” they are featured in the first ever global tourism campaign for the United States.

Google flight search

I start my search for flights using Google.

Since you cannot buy your ticket via Google, I normally buy the ticket from the airline I want to fly itself.

Google is rolling out even more cool ways to plan flights. Check this out.

sleeping in airports

I slept over at the Vancouver airport twice last week. The life of a Jet-setter. 🙂

With my camping air mattress, I sleep better than this paranoid.

Not as well as this guy.

airport tent
The “Mini Motel” is a one-person tent includes air mattress, pillow, bed sheet, alarm clock, reading light, toothbrush and toothpaste, ear plugs and eye shades.

I love catching the first flight of the day because they are more likely to leave on time. Less likely to make me miss a connection.

cycling with Rockin’

Stopping in Vancouver en route to my parent’s place, Rockin’ Ronnie and I got out on the bikes two days in a row.

First, his favourite local ride – the Fisherman’s Trail.

Ron Fishermans

He’d never seen it so green, so overgrown. It was solstice.

Next day we rode over the bridge to Stanley Park, the #1 urban park in the world on some lists.

Ron and Rick

We met friends for a light lunch on Granville Island.

Edible Canada Granville

That’s Edible Canada, one of the best of many fine Granville eateries.

From there we looped busy False Creek.

It doesn’t get much better than Vancouver on a sunny day.

And it’s always sunny when I visit Vancouver. 🙂
