Trump empowers the Alt-Right

Do you know Pepe the frog?

pepe-the-frog-and-trump

Pepe is a cartoon-strip creature used as a symbol of right wing extremists. Extremists like Drumpf’s son Donald Trump Jr. who proudly shared this image on Instagram.

deplorables-trump

Gov. Mike Pence, Gov. Chris Christie, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Dr. Ben Carson, both of Trump’s eldest sons, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, alt-right icon Milo Yiannopoulos, and Roger Stone.

I first started following American politics because of the Tea Party, a backward, negative, semi-racist and homophobic collection of zealots and hypocrites. Looking back, Michele Bachmann’s antics seem almost laughable.

The Alt-Right is far, far worse. 😦

And they’ve come to public attention because an egomaniac psychopath has had success spouting their hateful rhetoric.

In earlier years, the movement — which combines elements of racism, anti-Semitism, and a general preference for nationalist strongmen over the candidates of either party — was mostly confined to the realm of dark web message boards, 4chan, and obscure blogs. About a year ago, they burst onto the scene and established a new home for themselves in Donald Trump’s campaign.

The Alt-Right Gives a Press Conference

Drumpf wants to be a dictator like Putin

Breitbart News is the most prominent site for the Alt-Right.

The New York Times describes Breitbart News as a “curiosity of the fringe right wing”, with “ideologically driven journalists”, that is a source of controversy “over material that has been called misogynist, xenophobic and racist”, and is now a “potent voice” for Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign

Drumpf recently named chairman of Breitbart News – Stephen Bannon – his campaign CEO. A nasty man.

I’m depressed for Americans stuck in a nation with so many people willing to support the Alt-Right candidate. 😦

definition of ‘terrorist’

This guy is a terrorist.

DailyNewsTerrorist

He killed 9 people in a Church stating that “Blacks have to go.”

This guy is a terrorist too.

terrorist

I believe he mainly hates Gays. But since he mentioned inspiration by ISIS I’d certainly call him a Jihadist, as well.

There shouldn’t be any confusion on the definition. What we need to be talking about is how to stop future mass shootings. 😦

I don’t want Gundamentalist prayers

JOHN PAVLOVITZ:

Gun lover, please don’t tell me you’re grieving along with me today too. I just don’t buy it. You’re welcome to mourn, but I don’t think I want your company right now.

If you’re still against greater gun control measures—I don’t want you to grieve alongside me today.

If you’re part of the zealous, gun-glorifying community—I don’t want you to grieve alongside me today.

If you’re a militant, unrepentant NRA apologist—I don’t want you to grieve alongside me today.
If your right to bear arms ultimately matters more to you than the human wreckage strewn about movie theaters and shopping malls and elementary schools and and nightclubs and hospitals—I don’t want you to grieve alongside me today. …

Frank Schaeffer, the man who helped create the religious right

This rings true to me. A very important interview.

Frank Schaeffer is the son of radical evangelical cleric Francis Schaeffer, who was instrumental in creating the modern anti-abortion movement and forging the alliance between the Republican party and evangelical Christians.

Schaeffer has repudiated reactionary politics and become an advocate for social justice. In this riveting, 5.5 minute interview with Full Frontal’s Samantha Bee, Schaeffer lays out the history of the reactionary right in America, and the consequences of the alliance between evangelicals and finance capitalism, from Fox News to the Iraq War.

Drumpf would ban gun-free zones

… “There’s no more gun-free zones” in a Trump presidency, the candidate said in Vermont on Thursday evening, singling out schools and military bases. …

Politico

He thinks there would be fewer innocent young people killed by fire arms in schools. Obviously that’s wrong.

More guns = more accidents & more suicides & more thefts. That’s statistics. 😦

Thou shalt not kill.”

In America, however, most Christians still support capital punishment. That seems a disconnect to me.

A poll by the Pew Research Center in March found that 56% of Americans back the death penalty while 38% oppose it. Catholics were slightly less supportive (approving it by 53% to 42%) than average, whereas Protestants were more keen. Among white evangelicals, some 71% agreed with execution and only 25% were against. Black Protestants felt differently; 37% agree with the death penalty while 58% oppose it.

But even in America, support for the death penalty is waning, falling from 80% in 1994. …

Economist

Tea Party types, in general, believe in Capital Punishment. Surprisingly it’s not one of their “15 Non-negotiable Core Beliefs”.

Almost anything supported by the Tea Party, I oppose.
