Jane’s fantastic Swopper Stool
Everybody LOVES this alternative to an office chair. It’s far better than an exercise ball.
… truly one of a kind. With over a dozen patents on it worldwide there is nothing else like it on the market today. The Swopper is designed to provide the user with three dimensions of movement; horizontal, vertical, and lateral.
… engages the core muscles that normally go unused in a normal office chair. …

Fly Turkish Airlines
Many — including me — are finding the best fares and routing for long trips on Turkish Airlines. They boast more destinations than any other airlines.
Istanbul is trying to compete with Emirates and Qatar as the most desirable hub in that region.

Friday Night Lights
Do you think that God loves football?
I find myself watching Season 1 of the acclaimed TV series Friday Night Lights. (2006-2011)
It’s very intense. Very well done.
Is Texas truly this football obsessed?

All the acting is strong. The writing excellent.
I really like Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins. And Connie Britton as Tami Taylor.
In fact, for a TV series about a macho male sport, the female lead characters are all good.
I never played football. Never much liked football.
Watching the show in 2013 I mostly worry about brain damage. Concussion.
Virgin America Safety Video
Virgin is cool.
… Director Jon M. Chu, Choreographers Jamal Sims and Christopher Scott, Virgin America teammates, and dance stars like Todrick Hall and Madd Chadd to give our safety video a new song and dance — literally. …

… in December 2002, The Economist had quoted an expert as claiming that “No large airliner has ever made an emergency landing on water” in an article that goes on to charge, “So the life jackets … have little purpose other than to make passengers feel better.”
This idea was repeated in The Economist in September 2006 in an article which reported that “in the history of aviation the number of wide-bodied aircraft that have made successful landings on water is zero.”
Of note is the 15 January 2009 ditching of US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 narrow-body jet, which successfully ditched in the North River section of the Hudson River …
All on board survived, showing that inflatable slide rafts and life jackets can sometimes serve their purposes, although photographs from the incident show that very few passengers were wearing life jackets. …
my Portuguese meal
I stayed one night at Gallery Hostel in Porto, certainly the prettiest hostel I’ve ever seen.
It’s an active Art Gallery.

Found it via TripAdvisor.com, the site I’ve been using over the past couple of years in preference to Lonely Planet.
The most luxurious dorm accommodation anywhere?
Cost was $30 / night including a wonderful breakfast. (Eggs cooked to order.)
Even better was the optional evening meal, $13.50 including all the local Douro wine you could drink. 🙂
It’s prepared by a couple of guys working at the hostel. They are keen to teach any of the visitors interested how to cook local dishes.
The economy in Portugal is still lousy. Their friends looking for opportunity go to Brazil or other former Portuguese colonies.
These tapas were my favourite. Ground sausage. Cheese. Jam.

I had several other excellent meals in Porto. Twice the Francesinha:
literally Frenchy, or more accurately little French (female) – is the most famous popular native snack food in Porto. It is a kind of sandwich with several meats covered with cheese and a special sauce made with beer and other ingredients.
Maybe 9000 cal a plate!
PeaceLoveCar
I’ve not owned a vehicle for most of the last 14 years.
But the PeaceLoveCar is tempting.
Sam Salwei lives in a 28-square-foot pod. It was built in 1988, and formerly the car was known as a Ford Festiva.
Salwei, a founding member of the YogaSlackers group and a GearJunkie contributor, calls his highly-modified vehicle the PeaceLoveCar.
A solar panel on the roof gives power. The seats fold down into a bed. Under the hood is an oven. “We bake burritos in there,” Salwei notes. The back seat has a fridge.
408,841 miles grace the odometer. The Guinness World Record for a Festiva, Salwei says, is 640,000 miles. “I might break it.” …
Thanks Dave.
season 4 – Breaking Bad
Walter White is a bad ass.
Breaking Bad (season 4) concluded on October 9, 2011. …
… the ongoing feud between Walter White and Gus Fring …
a “13-episode chess game” between Gus and Walt.
I’ve been addicted, watching about half an episode most nights.
… Is a Canadian version being cast ?? 🙂
