They’re the worst form of war, except for all the others.

… Drones kill fewer civilians, as a percentage of total fatalities, than any other military weapon. …
I agree.
The main downside … when terrorists get drones. Public figures will then have to stay out of sight 24/7.
I spent 2 days with Richard at his school in Port Townsend, WA. Tumbl Trak and the town’s Parks & Rec department provided gymnastics instruction for all Middle School classes.
After reading an article about George Dawson, a 98-year-old man just learning to read and write, Glaubman began making regular visits to Mr. Dawson. The resulting collaboration led to the book, Life Is So Good, published by Random House.
Richard Glaubman has appeared on CBS Sunday Morning, Good Morning America, The Discovery Health Channel, and numerous regional television and radio stations. His book has been reviewed by the New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, The Washington Post, The LA Times, The Seattle Post Intelligencer and The Dallas Morning News, as well as many other publications. It has been a selection of both the Book of the Month Club and the Literary Guild.
By the Charter of the University of the State of New York, the New School University awarded him a doctorate of Human Letters “for outstanding achievement in the service of humankind.” And, Life Is So Good won the Christopher Award for writers whose work “affirms the highest values of the human spirit.”
In this remarkable book, George Dawson, a 103-year-old slave’s grandson who learned to read at age 98, reflects on his life and offers valuable lessons in living and a fresh, firsthand view of America during the twentieth century. Richard Glaubman captures Dawson’s irresistible voice and view of the world, offering insights into humanity, history, hardships and happiness. From segregation and civil rights, to the wars and the presidents, to defining moments in history, George Dawson’s description and assessment of the last century inspires readers with the message that has always sustained him: “Life is so good. I do believe it’s getting better.”
Richard is happy to make appearances. Contract him if you’d like an inspirational talk at your school, college or book festival.
So far, so good. I’m liking it.
Carries up to a 16 in. laptop in a padded, suspended pocket.
The suspended pocket is critical in a laptop briefcase — otherwise you could impact metal simply by dropping the case on the Floor.

Surprisingly even to myself, I’m getting back into Gymnastics Judging starting 2013. That means putting on the monkey suit again.
Slacks, dress shoes, jacket, shirt and tie.
The full corporate Monty.
At an Adidas Outlet Mall location I happened to find these ClimaLite pseudo dress slacks. Nice.
They are made primarily for Golfing. Light weight. Wrinkle resistant. Quick drying.
32in x 32in — same size as in High School. … That’s hard to believe. 🙂
Intense.

I’ve always liked Kelsey Grammer. This is his best work yet. He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
Martin Donovan is fantastic as Ezra Stone. Kathleen Robertson is … fascinating … as Kitty O’Neill.
Sadly the show was cancelled after season 2. But there’s talk of a film that would finish the story line.
This was the first TV series I’ve ever purchased from iTunes.
How had I not heard about this new colossus?
The African Renaissance Monument (French: Le Monument de la Renaissance africaine) is a 49m tall bronze statue ….
Originally scheduled for completion in December 2009, delays stretched into early 2010, and the formal dedication occurred on 4 April 2010, Senegal’s “National Day“, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence from France. It is the tallest statue in Africa. …
… depicts a family group emerging from a mountaintop: a full-length statue of a young woman, a man, and held aloft on the man’s raised left arm, a child resolutely pointing west towards the sea. …
… opposition leaders have also questioned the style of the project, labeling it “Stalinist”, while others say that the body shapes are not African. Local imams argue that a statue depicting a human figure is idolatrous, and object to the perceived immodesty of the semi-nude male and female figures.
If Africa is to move forward, don’t we need World Class inspiration?
Personally, I think it’s fantastic. And should be included in the list of best monuments in the world.

TechCrunch:
… There are the lines, the hassles, the constant upsells, confusion around cost of gas and insurance, and about 15 pages of paper that you have to sign before being able to pick out your car and leave the lot. Frequent travelers and members of rewards programs aren’t treated that differently. They have a shorter line and can generally have a better choice of available cars from the lot, but the experience isn’t fundamentally better.
Airport car rentals are a big business — more than $10 billion a year, by some estimates — but the experience is pretty bad all around. Which means it’s time for disruption! …
Two interesting up-and-coming alternatives:
• Flightcar
• Silvercar

… Customers won’t have to worry about getting gouged for gas at 3x the price for bringing a car back with a half-empty tank, for instance: Since cars are connected to the cloud, they’ll merely report back how empty or full the tank is, and automatically charge users for refills based on the market rate for gas. Customers will also have a limited number of insurance options to choose from, rather than having to navigate the confusing choices that more car rental agencies provide. …

Have I dreamed of the PERFECT to-do list and workflow?
YES I HAVE.
So have the good folks at Brain Toniq:
If you dreamed of the “perfect system” what attributes would it have? We think it would:
Keep everything in one system (versus one way for one kind of to-dos and another method for other types of to-dos).
Allow you to group items in different ways, so that you’re not staring at all 80 to-dos that you’ve written down. Instead, you can look only at “Downtown” to-dos, or “My daughter” to-dos. You can sort by priority, where, who, what.
Allow you to remove emails out of the Inbox and into your to-do system …
Be where you are, up to date, when you need it.
Allow you to approach what to do next from different points of view, “wearing different hats” and organize and view those items accordingly.
Have a way to capture ideas and to-do items when you think of them, getting ALL of them out of your head.
Keep you in control and not overwhelmed even if you have a TON of things to do.
We have created exactly this. Because of the impact it’s having on our lives and businesses, we call it The Secret Weapon, or TSW for short. …If interested, start here — Secret Weapon Manifesto – The Issue
I spent a few hours getting up-to-speed, and am now trying to use the incredibly powerful Evernote for my to-do list.
Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.
I’m keen to capture audio notes … and visual notes with my iPhone. (VIDEO)
Yesterday I updated to Evernote 5 for Mac, a significantly different interface. So far, I like it better.

More Evernote videos.
Wish me luck. I’m trying to transition away from Google Tasks and text to-do lists.

… Silver runs a blog called FiveThirtyEight, which is licensed by the Times. In 2008 he called the presidential election with incredible accuracy, getting 49 out of 50 states right.
But this year he rolled a perfect score, 50 out of 50, even nailing the margins in many cases. His uncanny accuracy on this year’s election represents what Rowinski calls a victory of “logic over punditry.”
… What does it mean when some punk kid baseball nerd can just wade into politics and start kicking butt on all these long-time “experts” who have spent their entire lives covering politics?
It means something big is happening.

It’s time to take down bloviating pundits in the USA, Dick Morris often being listed as WORST.
