American politics went batshit crazy starting with Newt Gingrich

I ignored American politics until 2004 when — inexplicably — George W. Bush was elected for a second term after being unbelievably bad in his first term.

What the Hell was going on?

Jim VandeHei explains why the USA has such extreme politics in 2017: Newt GingrichFox News (1996), MSNBC, CNN, Facebook and later Twitter, Sarah Palin and finally Trump.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert documented the idiocy.

It’s easy to say Americans deserve the politicians they have.

My fear is that other nations will evolve in the direction of the American way. 😦

The Handmaid’s Tale

Excellent.

A good example of how the great story telling in 2017 is on TV not on film.

If you want to muse on gender equality watch Handmaid’s Tale not Wonder Woman.

This show’s success is mostly Elisabeth Moss. She carries a high percentage of the scenes.

All the casting is superb.

Personally I feel the detailed cinematography and careful sound track are too precious. I wish filmmakers would concentrate on the story and stop showing off so much.

The pacing is too slow for me, as well.

Still … it’s must watch TV in 2017.

2. It’s a parable about male privilege.

3. There will be changes from Atwood’s book.

4. The cinematography is both stunning and specific.

5. The Republic of Gilead parallels Puritanism. …

I’m unfollowing Trump supporters on Facebook, Twitter

Only 1 in 4 Americans voted against Donald Trump. I blame 75% of Americans for letting that psychopath get elected.

Depressing. 😦

I’ve stopped following American politics. And don’t want to hear from anyone telling me he’s not as bad as you think. He is.

As always, I encourage you to unfriend me if you don’t like my point of view. That’s freedom from speech.

Good luck USA. I’m out.

I was astonished in 2004 when the American people reelected G.W. Bush to a second term despite the unbelievably bad job he did as President.

Under his watch the world economy crashed.

g-w-bush

Trump is much, much worse in my opinion.

What to do?

I’ll stop following American politics. Try to enjoy my remaining days on this Earth even more with the time gained.

I do blame Trump supporters for what’s about to happen over the next 4 years. 😦

American people have spoken

Around half of voters decided to take a chance on an egomaniac psychopath liar. I’m shocked and surprised.

donaldtrump

I disagree with pretty much everything Drumpf. The next 4 years will be a disaster for the USA and the world. 😦

American Nazis – Hate Rising

Trump is nearly gone — retreating to one of his evil billionaire lairs.

But his fleeting success has inspired these A-holes.

… upcoming documentary “Hate Rising,” for which he traveled across the U.S. to speak with white supremacy groups, including Neo Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members, as well as Muslims, Latinos and children who have been victims of what The Southern Poverty Law Center calls “the Trump effect.” …

“The Trump effect” is full of negative connotations and it’s twofold. On one hand, it has given permission to white supremacists and Neo-Nazi groups to express their biases and prejudices. And on the other hand, it has created a lot of fear and anxiety …

Trump empowers the Alt-Right

Do you know Pepe the frog?

pepe-the-frog-and-trump

Pepe is a cartoon-strip creature used as a symbol of right wing extremists. Extremists like Drumpf’s son Donald Trump Jr. who proudly shared this image on Instagram.

deplorables-trump

Gov. Mike Pence, Gov. Chris Christie, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Dr. Ben Carson, both of Trump’s eldest sons, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, alt-right icon Milo Yiannopoulos, and Roger Stone.

I first started following American politics because of the Tea Party, a backward, negative, semi-racist and homophobic collection of zealots and hypocrites. Looking back, Michele Bachmann’s antics seem almost laughable.

The Alt-Right is far, far worse. 😦

And they’ve come to public attention because an egomaniac psychopath has had success spouting their hateful rhetoric.

In earlier years, the movement — which combines elements of racism, anti-Semitism, and a general preference for nationalist strongmen over the candidates of either party — was mostly confined to the realm of dark web message boards, 4chan, and obscure blogs. About a year ago, they burst onto the scene and established a new home for themselves in Donald Trump’s campaign.

The Alt-Right Gives a Press Conference

drumpf-megalomaniac
Drumpf wants to be a dictator like Putin

Breitbart News is the most prominent site for the Alt-Right.

The New York Times describes Breitbart News as a “curiosity of the fringe right wing”, with “ideologically driven journalists”, that is a source of controversy “over material that has been called misogynist, xenophobic and racist”, and is now a “potent voice” for Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign

Drumpf recently named chairman of Breitbart News – Stephen Bannon – his campaign CEO. A nasty man.

I’m depressed for Americans stuck in a nation with so many people willing to support the Alt-Right candidate. 😦
